“ I just love going to Exile around Halloween. The place is really heavy on costume-y stuff. It’s mostly second hand here, but they’ve also got some new t-shirts and American Apparel hoodies. Some new belts, boots, and buttons. It’s such an institution in Kensington. Lynn Harpell opened the place 30 years ago. I think the mainstay here really is the jeans. They’re big on slouchy, boyfriend jeans. This is where you come for the classic Levi’s look. I know they’re starting to get in Mink coats now, too. You get the Kensington regulars, but then you also get the Yorkvillers who want some slouchy jeans to go with their Manolos. They constantly get celeb shoppers here. I know Beyonce has been here, Jude Law and Sienna Miller, Susan Sarandon, Catherine Zeta Jones, Beastie Boys. It’s a celeb magnet and for good reason.”
